Shelter Hours
The Dog Shelter is open to the public during normal hours, including Saturdays.
Limited Entry; Masks/Face Coverings Required
Entry may be limited based on the number of people inside the Shelter.
Entry will not be permitted if you are not wearing a mask, scarf, or other adequate face covering (must cover mouth and nose).
Please check your temperature at home before coming to the Shelter. If you have a fever (over 99 degrees) or are experiencing shortness of breath, body aches, muscle aches, or headaches, please DO NOT come to the Shelter.
Maintain Distance
Everyone must maintain a distance of 6 feet from each other and 10 feet is recommended.
Hand Washing
Please wash your hands frequently, including before you come to the Shelter. Hand sanitizer use is also encouraged.
Limited Staffing
The Shelter will not be fully staffed yet. Unexpected closures are highly likely to respond to calls and meet other statutory obligations. Please call in advance.
Volunteers
When there are dogs at the shelter, existing volunteers may walk dogs during Shelter hours.
Buying Dog Licenses
Please purchase dog licenses online instead of at the Shelter whenever possible. https://doglicenses.us/OH/Wood/
Dog Park
The Dog Park continues to remain open, membership may be purchased at the Shelter.

The Wood County Dog Shelter in Ohio is a department operated under the direction of the Wood County Commissioners. Wood County is one of the largest counties in the state of Ohio at 617 square miles and has an average population of 125,488 citizens.
The Wood County Dog Warden and Deputies are required to patrol the county and impound any stray and unlicensed dogs as well as to enforce sections 955.01 to 955.27, 955.29 to 955.38, and 955.50 of the Ohio Revised Code.
Dog Wardens are law enforcement officers and have the same police powers as sheriffs and police officers in the performance of their duties. The Dog Shelter per the Ohio Revised Code is not authorized to handle cats.
